Now Playing: showing so far this summer
Topic: MOVIES
* Gina and I have actually been able to have a few date nights. Last night we escaped to see the movie THE LAKE HOUSE. I knew it was going to be a chick flick and guessed the ending from the beginning. It was an okay movie and I'll give it ONE star. I am sure my wife would rank it higher.
- - THE BREAK UP Last weekend Gina and I escaped for dinner and a movie. By the way, Ruby Tuesdays has the best salad bar in town. From the commercials, THE BREAK UP looked like a romantic comedy. It was sprinkled with an occasional chuckle but it was a DOWNER!!!!! I was taking Gina out to see chick flicks because she needed some entertainment. Gina had a hard enough week and she HATED THIS MOVIE. She talked about how bad it was ALL WEEK LONG. It's one of those movies she's been warning not to see. NO STARS.
***** Walt Disney's/Pixar CARS. I love this movie. Take your kids and grandkids to see this one. I put it right up there with SHREK and SHREK 2.
**** MISSION IMPOSSIBLE I am not a big Tom Cruise fan but this MI is the best MI to date.
** X-MEN 3 This is an okay movie. I would watch it again if it were a second feature at a drive-in. I am not a big fan of the X-MEN franchise. Other folks who are might be more generous with the stars. Sure there was loads of action, things coming at you from begininning to end but some movies are just sensory overload.
*** OVER THE HEDGE The kids loved this movie but I wasn't. It's a quality piece of work and I enjoyed the voiceover cast. The story was so-so but it was very entertaining for the kids.
**** NACHOOOOO LIBRE This is a very quirky comedy and reminded me for some reason as THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY. Maybe the script wasn't as funny as it should be but the characters were funny. Jack Black threw himself into a funny roll and lived it out.
Movies that I haven't seen and won't.
GARFIELD II - I took my daughter to see the first one and I ain't gonna suffer another one.
FAST & THE FURIOUS III I don't like fast pink cars racing each other movies. I saw the first one as a second feature at a drive-in. This is a movie for 18 year old boys who have no idea that they are mortal yet to watch.
Well, that's my summer movie review. I can't wait to see the new SUPERMAN movie. Kevin Spacy as Lex Luthor out to be worth the price of admission. Surely they will be better than the Superman movies of the eighties. I actually liked the second one. "KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!"
