SONGS OF DAVID

I am a graphic designer by trade (www.finlaysonconcept.com) but my passion has always been music. I've been writing and singing my own material now for almost thirty years. I am a Christian and so it is unavoidable that my songs reflect this. My pilgrimage with Jesus has influenced every aspect of my life and so it has with my music. I am neither preacher nor teacher. Ever since I can remember I was just an artist, not a minister, nor a performer. I am glad though that He chooses to use me from time to time in music and with laughter.

Occasionally I play with a band but I especially enjoy going out with my acoustic guitar and harmonicas. I sometimes bring a friend. More than often it is a gifted musician named Jose' Rodriguez. He is more than an excellent guitarist, he is my comrade. Jose' splashes depth and textures around each song, always giving them a unique feel. Even so, the only reason I've ever invited anyone along is not for the sound but more for the fellowship. The objective was never to present a tight performance but to offer something real and from the heart.

I never really know what to expect each time I go out. I give it to God. My wife Gina says that I never sing one song the same. Each venue is a different canvas. I don't really care to do the same thing twice. I do not put a lot of time in preparation because it's never done much good in the past. Ad-lib has always been my forte. I usually just grab the guitar and go. My songs are just songs without His presence and anointing. No matter what the venue, it's about, for and to my Lord.
